God expects us to grow. He tells us to make spiritual advancement; you should be able to measure your life continually to see that you are making progress.
Growth is measurable
If you can make spiritual progress, progress in every other area of your life is absolutely assured, because the spiritual controls the physical. The Bible describes the path of the just as a shining light, one that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.
"But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." — Proverbs 4:18
Three things to do
- Study the Word deliberately. Not casually, and not only when you have a need. Set a time and keep it.
- Pray in the spirit every day. Praying in tongues edifies you and builds your inner man.
- Act on what you learn. Faith is a response; the Word only works in you to the extent that you act on it.
Begin today. Take stock of where you were last year and where you are now, and refuse to stand still.
