Dear Pastor Chris, what is the difference between praise and worship, and how do I make sure mine is genuine and not just a routine?
Praise and worship are not the music before the message. They are the believer's response to who God is.
Praise celebrates what He has done
It is loud, glad and grateful. It recounts His acts and thanks Him for them.
Worship responds to who He is
Worship goes past the gifts to the Giver. It is reverence, adoration and surrender — and it is offered in spirit and in truth.
Keeping it genuine
Routine sets in when the heart stops paying attention. Come with something to say to Him, and say it from your own heart, and worship stays alive.
